Writing is hard. It’s even harder when you’re Black, queer, disabled, low-income/working-class, and working each day to survive white heteropatriarchal capitalism. Productivity culture eats away at our creativity because we spend so much of our intellectual and psychic energy just trying to live. That’s why we created this space.
Colored Convos Media (CCM) is a media organization dedicated to creating and sustaining safe and intentional spaces for Black and queer content creators to do what they want to do most: create. We hold regular writing workshops, virtual chats and discussions, and author talks meant to support Black and queer folks as they navigate an overwhelmingly white publishing world.
Each week, free subscribers will find new writing, workshop, residency, and creative opportunities posted on our Black (Writing) Jobs Bulletin. We are also working on cataloguing all the Black bookstores in the country (stay tuned). Free subscribers will also get regular writing advice, notifications about ways to improve their writing habits and routines, and updates about upcoming programs.
Paid subscribers are the life blood of this work. We can’t do any of this without all of you. Paid subscribers will receive exclusive content and access to comments. You will also receive opportunities to collaborate with us in the future.
Each month, we will publish a newsletter with all the updates and happenings here at CCM. We are so happy you’re here. Let’s get to work.
