Who are we?

We are Daren and Jenn M. Jackson. We are a Black queer married millennial couple with three kids and tons of creative energy. Since 2002, we have been dreaming up ways to build freer Black futures filled with the written word and the imagination that comes along with it.

We started Colored Convos Media, LLC, in 2020 after launching a successful podcast called “That Black Couple” in 2015 and an award-winning blog called Water Cooler Convos in 2007. We are writers, parents, radicals, and lovers of all Black people.

What do we do?

Mission: To create a generative and intentional space for Black and queer content creators to be paid to cultivate their writing and creative talents.

Vision: A writing and publishing world where our stories are no longer marginalized.

In essence, we create generative, safe, and loving spaces for Black and queer content creators to focus on their craft. And, we do it with intention.
